USA TODAY's Jocelyn McClurg scopes out the hottest books on sale each week.

1. Frog Music by Emma Donoghue (Little, Brown, fiction, on sale April 1)

What it's about: The author of Room returns with historical fiction about the unsolved 1870s San Francisco murder of Jenny Bonnet.

The buzz: It's an Indie Next pick of independent booksellers. "A vivid, atmospheric crime novel," says Kat Bailey of Bookshop Santa Cruz in Santa Cruz, Calif.

2. The Harlem Hellfighters by Max Brooks, illustrated by Caanan White (Broadway, fiction, paperback original, on sale April 1)

What it's about: Graphic novel explores little-known history of black regiment that fought in World War I.

The buzz: Brooks' World War Z was the basis for the hit zombie movie starring Brad Pitt.

3. The Hiltons by J. Randy Taraborrelli (Grand Central, non-fiction, on sale April 1)

What it's about: Tells the "True Story of an American Dynasty," from hotelier Conrad Hilton through reality star Paris.

The buzz: Taraborrelli's previous gossipy subjects include Michael Jackson, Madonna and Elizabeth Taylor.

4. Long Mile Home by Scott Helman and Jenna Russell (Dutton, non-fiction, on sale April 1)

What it's about: Boston Globe reporters recount the Boston Marathon bombings to mark the first anniversary.

The buzz: Captures the "anxiety and claustrophobia that gripped the region and the resilience that emerged from the ordeal," says Publishers Weekly.

5. I've Got You Under My Skin by Mary Higgins Clark (Simon & Schuster, fiction, on sale April 1)

What it's about: A little boy witnesses the brazen murder of his father, a Manhattan doctor, at a city playground.

The buzz: Seven of Clark's suspense novels have hit No. 1 on USA TODAY's Best-Selling Books list.
